March 1 , 2006

EPHRATA , WA . -- Grant County Public Utility District General Manager Tim Culbertson announced a series of organizational changes effective March 1, 2006.

These changes align with the recently adopted Strategic Plan for the utility and are part of on-going efforts to develop an organizational structure and leadership framework that is designed to further the utility’s new Vision Statement of “Excellence in Service and Leadership.”

The Information Services and Telecommunications Engineering Departments will move from the current Support Services Division and will become a separate Information Technology Division under the leadership of Nick Gerde, Treasurer / Controller. Larry Jones will serve as director of this new division. Functions within this area include software management, network applications support, computer operations support, business security, telecommunications engineering, record retention management and office support services.

The current Communications and External Affairs Division will transition into the Human Resources and Support Services Division. Sarah Morford will serve as Manager of the Communications Department. Recruitment has begun to fill the vacant director position for this division.

The Accounting, Finance and Strategic Planning Departments will be combined into a Division with 23-year employee Jim Bunch as Director.

Grant PUD’s Divisions of Hydro, Natural Resources, Power Management, and Customer Service remain unchanged at this time.

“To achieve our mission of ‘Generating and Delivering Power to our Customers,’ we set a goal of attracting and maintaining a high-quality workforce,” said Grant PUD General Manager Tim Culbertson. “Part of this process is getting people into the right positions organizationally while planning for succession as large numbers of employees plan their retirement in the near future.”

The Strategic Plan was adopted by Grant PUD Commissioners on January 9, 2006 and clearly defines the utility’s view of the future with statements of Vision, Mission, and Guiding Principles, along with Goals and Objectives to measure progress.

The plan provides Grant PUD’s staff with clear direction for planning and action and articulates the strategic business approach that the utility will follow when addressing the electric power needs of the citizens of Grant County.
